Here is our review of the film, which was released today (January 5, 2024).
Plot:
Raghava Reddy (Siva Kantamneni) works as a firebrand lecturer in a college. Raasi (Devika) is a single mother who pampers her daughter Lucky (Nanditha Swetha) to the core. As a result, she grows up to be arrogant and combative. One day, out of too much pride, she tries to insult Raghava Reddy.
Devika comes to college to pick up her daughter Lucky. Raghava Reddy follows Devika to learn more about her. Who is Devika? What’s her relationship with the fiery college lecturer? Will Lucky's thinking transform? That's what the rest of the film is all about.
Performances:
Siva Kantamneni looks the part. He enjoys playing a lead role that is both dignified and measured. His performance is earnest in general and incredible in some emotional scenes. Raasi, who was a star heroine in the 1990s, shines in her role. Hers is a complex role. It’s a delight to watch her in the movie.
Nanditha Swetha, known for many films in Telugu and Tamil, is effective in a layered character. She is a director's actress who not only looks stylish but also hot in some scenes. Ajay (as David, the 'care of' address for death) has a minimal role but he is effective. Comedians Bithiri Sathi, Raghu Babu, Chammak Chandra, Ajay Ghosh and others do well.
Analysis:
Raghava Reddy has essentially been conceived as an action drama with a tinge of suspense. The family emotions are effective, especially in the second half. The director lets his hero, Siva Kantamneni, walk the talk in a couple of scenes. The background music of the film is good.
The climax is predictable. In the run-up to the climax, some scenes stand out. How the characters, especially those played by Siva, Raasi and Nanditha, reconcile with each other is interesting. There are no redundant elements. The film consciously avoids done-to-death elements. The narration is focused throughout. The action scenes stand out for their innovative punches.
Verdict:
Raghava Reddy is a family entertainer that is rich in all ingredients, ranging from emotions, sentiments and action.
