Nirav Modi Papers ‘Destroyed’ In Scindia House Fire

Mumbai: A major fire broke out at the Income Tax office located in multi-storeyed Scindia House in South Mumbai on Friday.

The building, a well-known landmark in South Mumbai, also houses the office of the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT). The DRT office was stocking documents and evidence relating to high-profile cases like the Nirav Modi — Punjab National Bank (PNB) scam and many other which is being investigated by the department.

Many Twitter users expressed suspicion over the fire accident as documents and evidence relating to major cases were said to be lost.

Five fire engines were rushed to the site to douse the flames, an official said.
