Hyderabad: Seven persons of a missionary group were arrested by Jawahar Nagar police on Monday for proselytizing locals.
The police arrested the group after being informed by people about proselytism at Balaji Nagar.
“The accused were trying to convert members of a particular community to another, which is illegal. They were also insulting a particular religion,” said Jawahar Nagar inspector S Ashok Kumar.
They have been booked under sections 153-A (promoting enmity between classes or groups) and 295-A (maliciously insulting the religion or religious beliefs of any class) of the IPC.
