Madhya Pradesh To Develop Happiness Index
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh state, which is among one of the lowest Human Development Index states, is in quest of happiness.
According to media reports, Mandhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had given a task to IIT-Kharagpur to find out quantifiable answer to the eternal question — How happy are people and what makes them feel happy?
It may be recalled that the MP state was the first government to set up Anand Matralay or the Ministry of Happiness. CM Chouhan as its first "happiness minister".
According to a study, India is placed at a dismal 122nd position in World Happiness Report for 2017.
The IIT-Kharagpur team will devise a questionnaire to know what makes people happy with tangible and intangible things. They will first undertake a survey and ask questions to know people's perception on governance and material things.
