Lakshmi Parvathi protests ignoring NTR for Bharat Ratna

Telugu  film legend and former chief minister N.T.Rama Rao’s widow Lakshmi Parvathi staged a dharna at NTR Ghat on Wednesday in protest against the AP government not recommending the name of NTR for Bharat Ratna.

Every year, all state governments recommend the names of various persons for the awards such as the Bharat Ratna and Padma awards.

As per the tradition, the Government of Andhra Pradesh too recommended the several names this year to Union Home Ministry  for these awards. But, the name of NTR was not recommended for Bharat Ratna this year.

During the earlier rule of NDA at centre, there were rumours that the NDA had readied to give Bharat Ratna to NTR but Chandrababu Naidu had obstructed to it.

As per the rules, Lakshmi Parvathi has to receive the award on behalf of NTR if the latter gets the award.

Even the TDP leaders are wondering why the Chandrababu government did not recommend the name of the party founder for the highest civilian honour in the country.
