Chennai: Deepa Jaikumar, niece of the late Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa, has alleged that Sasikala's faction was threatening her to prevent her from contesting the RK Nagar assembly seat, which has been vacant after the death of her aunt.

“I am getting repeated threats from Sasikala Natarajan camp since the moment I announced to contest from RK Nagar. Although I am not worried about my security, the people of Tamil Nadu must question them," said Deepa.

Last month, Deepa launched ‘MGR Amma Deepa Forum’ and called relationship between her aunt and her as of a "mother and daughter."

Deepa on March 9, a couple of hours after the Election Commission formally issued the notification for the by-election, asserted that she would contest from RK Nagar and win with majority.
