Harassment At Workplace: Lab Technicians Sexually Abuse Trainees At Gandhi Hospital

The lab technicians had threatened that they would fail the trainees in practical examination if they did not acquiesce.

Hyderabad: Four lab technicians of Gandhi Hospital were arrested for sexually harassing woman trainee technicians at the lab on Saturday. The accused have been identified as Mohd Akram (47), Thambi Anthony Sebastian (53), Jannu Madhu Babu (30) and Mandalam Durga (36).

The victims alleged that the quartet had been harassing them by inappropriately touching them and stalking at them at the workplace. The lab technicians had threatened that they would fail the trainees in practical examination if they did not acquiesce. The victims said that the accused did not mend their ways even after warning them.

A few months ago, the victims had lodged a complaint with Gandhi hospital Superintendent Dr Shravan Kumar. An inquiry committee has been constituted with professors and heads of department in the hospital to probe into the allegations. In September, the Committee confirmed that the victims were sexually harassed by the accused. Following a complaint from the trainees, the police arrested the quartt and a case was registered.
