Fibre optics only to control channel activities: Jagan

Hyderabad: The AP assembly on Saturday witnessed heated discussions between the treasury and opposition benches, with Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the leader of opposition, making serious allegations against the government’s intentions on projects such as the Fibre Optic grid and the firm that was given responsibility to implement it.

Y.S Jagan alleged that the Fibre Optic grid was envisioned with the intention to be able to cut off any channel that showcases anything that is against Chandrababu Naidu. He also questioned as to how Terrasoft, a blacklisted firm, was awarded the works related to the Fibre Optic grid.

Y.S Jagan revealed to the house that Terrasoft was placed in the Blacklist last year, as it was discovered to be involved in scams worth hundreds of crores. Scams were also discovered against Harikrishna Prasad, who ran the company, he said. Y.S Jagan revealed to the house that in the past, Harikrishna Prasad was caught trying to steal EVMs from Mumbai.

Jagan lamblasted the government for not only having Harikrishna Prasad on board the high powered committee on fibre optics but also for contracting the project to the company owned by him.

Y.S Jagan also ridiculed Chandrababu for projecting himself as the promoter of the core dashboard that was already available earlier. Many illegal activities were being committed in the name of fibre optics projects, Jagan alleged.

While Chandrababu was giving his response, Gorantla Buchaiah intervened and began to make personnel attacks on Y.S Jagan. The YSRCP members objected to this. The Speaker then adjourned the House till Monday.
