Farmers In KCR’s Constituency Get Special Treatment: RTI Disclosure 

Hyderabad: An RTI query revealed that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao roped in a Gujarat-based company to execute a special micro-irrigation project worth Rs 49.89 crore for select farmers for his two adopted villages in Gajwel assembly constituency. The two adopted villages are Errabelli and Narsannapeta.

The two villages in Jagdevpur Mandal in Medak district figure in the state’s official list of 231 drought-hit mandals but the other drought-hit mandals of the state will not receive such privilege.

The RTI query was filed by activist Ganji Srinivasa Rao who got a copy of MoU the state horticulture department entered with Vadodara-based Netafim Irrigation India pvt. Ltd in April.

The activist said that, “Ryots of these two villages are drought-hit but throwing norms to the winds by secretly selecting the agency to execute the project sets a bad precedent when other mandals equally deserve attention.”
