Court pulls up ACB over liquor syndicates

The Andhra Pradesh High Court pulled up the Anti-Corruption Bureau for its tardy pace in the investigation of the liquor syndicate case and set a deadline of two weeks to the premier anti-graft agency to submit its report.

It is a widely known fact that the probe into the dealings of the liquor mafia and the nexus between politicians and the syndicate, hit a roadblock with ministers and political heavyweights from the ruling congress resisting it strongly.
This led to the subsequent transfer of the ACB joint director heading the investigation, K. Srinivasa Reddy.

The ACB that has been probing into the activities of liquor syndicates across the State, has arrested 108 people so far in 52 cases.
