Burdened by private loans, farmer ends life in Karimnagar

A farmer was allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide in his own field.

Devaiah, a farmer from Ambaripet in Kathalapur mandal of Karimnagar district took the extreme step as all his hopes have been shattered to repay the loans he had taken from the local money-lenders. Repeated crop failures aggregated his troubles further and pressure mounted on him from the lenders. Devaiah bought pesticide and consumed it in the fields. The incident had moved everyone in the region. They blamed the government for Devaiah’s death.
