AP govt. hikes VAT on Petrol , Diesel!!

Plunging per dollar barrel rate is good news for rest of India. The prices of the petroleum prices have come down significantly.

But, in our very own Andhra Pradesh, the state government is refusing to pass on the price scale-down benefits to the common commuter. 

By hiking the Value Added Tax (VAT) over petrol, the state government has ensured that the prices remain the same for the fuel buyer, while the price scale down benefit accrues to the State Government. The AP government has hiked VAT on Petrol and Diesel by 5%. The citizens of AP are stunned by government action.This would mean that their fuel budget will remain unaffected by the petro-price scale-down during Modi government.The State government increased VAT (Value Added Tax) by Rs 4 on the sale of petrol and diesel per litre, which in turn will bring the existing 31% VAT on Petrol to 35.2% and the existing 22.25% on Diesel to 27%.

Already, the VAT in AP is on the higher side and this hike will further increase the disparity and hit the common man the hardest.
