Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Gautam Sawang clarified that the Irrigation department had used the drone only to check the intensity of the floods on the banks of River Krishna. Speaking to the media on Monday, he clarified that due to a communication gap the local police were not informed about the drone being used by the irrigation department. There is no conspiracy about this and there was need to unnecessarily create a controversy about this, he said.

The DGP also clearly stated that there was no need to politicise this issue which had arisen over a lack of coordination between the authorities. He also stated that henceforth if anyone wants to use a drone in future prior permission of the local police should be taken before flying it.

It may recollected that the Telugu Desam Party leaders were trying to politicise the issue over visuals of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu 's rented house on the banks of River Krishna which was shot by drone cameras. TDP leaders questioned as to who gave the permission for the shooting visuals and the Irrigation department officials clarified that it was on their instructions that the shooting of visuals by drone cameras was taken up. Further, they pointed out that it was being done to assess the extent of water levels and the resultant submersion. It was not correct on the part of TDP leaders to obstruct the shooting of the flood levels through the use of drone cameras, they said.
