Actor Jeetendra In Sexual Assault Case

Mumbai: Senior Bollywood star and heart throb of yesteryears, Jeetendra was booked by the Shimla police for sexual assault following a complaint lodged against him by his cousin. The complainant accused the actor of sexually assault 47 years ago, when she stayed in a hotel with him. Jeetendra, then one of the rising stars of Bollywood, with many hits to his name, was 28 at that time, while the complainant was 18.

The Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Umapati Jamwal is reported to have stated that an FIR under Section 354 IPC had been registered at the Chotta Shimla Police Station against the actor. She will now record her statement before a magistrate. The SP has clarified that the case would be investigated under the due provisions of law. However, police have asked the complainant to furnish relevant details on her stay in the hotel at that time for evidence to back up the complaint. They have also received a written complaint from her, after her email to the Director-General of Police, Himachal Pradesh.

Meanwhile, Jeetendra's legal counsel has dismissed the allegations saying that they are aimed to defame him and damage his reputation.
