Huzurabad: Only Few Beneficiaries Listed In Dalit Bandhu Scheme, Upset People Stage Protest Against KCR

 - Sakshi Post

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is going to launch the Dalit Bandhu scheme in Shalapally of Huzurabad constituency on a pilot basis on August 16. It is known that the beneficiaries under this scheme would be given Rs. 10 lakhs. The Telangana state government has already released Rs. 500 crore for the implementation of the scheme.

Ahead of the launch of the scheme in the constituency, a few sections of people are staging protests alleging that only a few Dalits have been shortlisted for the scheme. According to reports, there are total of 250 Dalits in the Kandugula village of the Huzurabad constituency, whereas only 8 members have been selected. So, the villagers staged a protest and expressed anguish over the Chief Minister of the state. On the other hand, some of the Dalits staged a dharna in front of the MRO office in Veenavanka Mandal.

However, District Collector Karnan clarified that there is no need to worry about the selection of the beneficiaries. He said that the beneficiaries will be selected in a phased manner and explained that every Dalit family would be benefitted. It is said that the names of beneficiaries were not available on the site and this might have resulted due to a technical glitch. The selection of beneficiaries was made on the basis of the comprehensive family survey conducted in the past. Local leaders are stressing that all the beneficiaries will be given money.
