Man Caught in Drunk Driving Raid in Hyderabad - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: In what could be termed as an amusing yet alarming incident, a man who was caught in a drunk driving raid, in Hyderabad held on to his beer bottle despite being caught on Saturday night.

In a blatant disregard for law he held on to his beer bottle and was seen arguing with the police. Despite being caught on the camera, it did not deter him from letting go of the bottle and he was seen walking with the Traffic cop, who choose to turn a blind eye. Police took him into custody, booked a case and seized his car.

Drunk-driving check-ups have become a regular feature in the weekends by the Hyderabad Police with each passing month. Banjara Hill Police charged 48 people and seized 20 cars, 28 bikes during a drunk -and- drive raid conducted near Neeru's Junction in Jubilee Hills on Saturday night.

Banjara Hills police said that those who were caught in the drive would be sent for counselling and produced before the court on Monday.

Speaking to reporters, CI Prabhakar Reddy said despite repeated counselling sessions and conducting awareness programs about the harmful effects of drinking, they continue to drink and there is no change in them.

Youngsters have found out many ways to escape the cops drive as they are aware of when and where the drives are conducted in the city. Some of them wait until the prescribed time is over and the cops get off their duty hours and they come out on the roads. The CI had clearly warned that if they are caught drunk while driving, they would be severely penalised.
