Warangal Rapist Praveen To Be Hanged To Death

Warangal: Kolepaka Praveen (28) has been ordered to be hanged (death by hanging) for the rape and murder of a nine-month-old baby girl, by the Warangal Fast Track court on Thursday afternoon. The incident rocked consciousness of the people of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and spontaneous protests erupted nationwide.

The sentence was served by First Additional District Judge K Jaya Kumar. The case was solved by the Fast Track Court within 48 days after the crime was committed on June 19. The parents of the baby burst into tears after hearing the judgement. Praveen had confessed to his crime and said that he had done the act under the influence of alcohol and was said to be a habitual offender.

In a heinous act, the nine-month-old baby girl was killed after Praveen sexually assaulted and killed her. The atrocious incident took place at Tailors’ street in Hanamkonda, Warangal on June 19th. The infant, Shritha was asleep on the terrace of the house along with her parents when Praveen of Madaram village in Parkal Mandal had entered the house, climbed the terrace and abducted the baby. However, the parents and the other family members woke up and when they found the baby missing started looking out for her.

They saw the accused running with the baby in his hand and caught and thrashed him. In the scuffle, the accused attempted to flee, however, he was not successful. While the baby was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Hanmakonda, the doctors declared her brought dead.

The accused was handed over to the police and a case was registered against the accused, who was taken into police custody.

In a significant move, the Warangal District Bar Association had unanimously decided to boycott Praveen, and the bar association strongly condemned the ghastly deed of the pervert. The District Bar Association Warangal issued a circular in which it said that the executive committee meeting held on June 20 condemned the act and further unanimously resolved that stern action shall be taken against the culprit and further all the advocates were requested not to defend the said accused in the case registered against him.

After the heinous crime the family members demanded harsh treatment for the accused. Protests erupted all over Hanamkonda with the public staging agitations on the roads demanding justice for the victim and severe punishment to the culprit.
